Brewers Lose. 5-2 - Mediocre Pitching - Anemic Hitting - Lousy Relief - PLUS: Baseball Haiku

No, this can't be happening.

The Brewers lose 7 of their last 9 games.

The Cubs yet again come back late and beat the White Sox.

The Yankees lose again to the Mets.

Are these End Times?

Cats Lying with Dogs?

Have we been Forsaken?

?

!

No, it's just Baseball.

And there's a lot of the season left to play.

And yes, I am on record as saying the Brewers are the story of the 2007 season.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

But first, what happened tonight?

Well, Scott Baker pitched a dandy of a game for starters.

Who?

Scott Baker?

Never heard of him.

And therein lies the problem.

Baker

No, I Have No Idea Who You Are.

The Brewers have lost twice to a struggling Twins team against two pitchers of little, or as is the case with Baker, no renown.

Where are the bats?

JJ Hardy did his part, hitting a National League leading 14th homer.

When was the last time a shortstop led the National League in homers at the end of a season?

Mr. Cub.

But that's a story for another day.

Other than that though, the Brewers bats were cold, if not silent.

It's A Long And Lonely Walk To The Bench.

!

Dave Bush did the best he could but ultimately he didn't have enough for the likes of Torri Hunter who hit another dinger, this time a two-run affair in the top of the second.

Cool Hat, Though.

Brian Shouse and Derrick Turnbow let up a run each in the top of the eighth.

Sigh.

So what now?

Well, I've been asking this same question quite a few times over these last nine games.

The answer Dear Reader and Brewers Fans is to relax and let the Universe come to you.

Really.

The Brewers are in a funk.

And the best way to get out of a funk is to play hard and have lots of fun doing it.

Remember just a few weeks ago?

Relaxed but focused.

And don't worry, they'll get there again.

Tomorrow is another day and the Brewers are due to bust out of this real soon and real hard.

Just sayin'.

!

...

Now as is the New Tradition, and in the Spirit of Healing, I give you Baseball Haiku:

called third strike--
the slow roll of the ball
back to the mound

Until then...

Enjoy!
