Brewers Lose 10-9. Too Little, Too Late. Twinkies Survive Collapse. PLUS: Special Tribute!

Did you see that game?

Be honest.

Did you see it?

At least did you see the end?

Gotaway
Ugh.

It would have been very hard to fault the Brewers if they pulled this game out, but they didn't. And the reason they didn't was the same reason they lose many of the their games, LOB.

After the first three innings the Brewers left 6 on base, 5 in scoring position: 8 after eight innings and 10 after nine.

The Brewers have plenty of offense. They had 9 runs, 15 hits, but it wasn't enough.

Trailing by 7 they slowly came back doing what they do best, hit home runs.

Corey Hart hit two, JJ Hardy, Craig Counsell, Tony Graffanino each had one, and Prince Fielder hit an inside the park job to lead off the ninth on a high fly that Lew Ford lost in the Teflon ceiling.

But instead of blowing the game wide open in the first having bases loaded with 1 out, they fell behind 2-0 after one.

As I said, Ugh.

But give credit where's credit is due.

The Crew did come back and they came back big but the Twinkies hit the ball hard and often and ultimately they won it in the ninth. After the furious Brewers comeback and the dramatic ninth inning, Chris Spurling gave up a walk-off homer to Justin Morneau.

Happy Twinkies.

**** Bremer and Bert Blyleven made it clear that if the Twinkies lost this game it would have had a crushing effect on their team.

And let me say this about that.

Bremer and Blyleven were complimentary of the Brewers all weekend and although I didn't much enjoy their style they both obviously have a deep and comprehensive knowledge of their team and of baseball in general.

Good On Them.

Overall it was a good week and the Brewers seem back on track and will be home for nine games including 3 each against the struggling Gigantes and Royals.

Should be good!
